Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 13, 2026

Ghosts does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. Everything you make in Ghosts stays on your device.

What the app connects to

Ghosts is an internet-radio instrument, so it does talk to the network — but only to play radio, never to say anything about you:

The station directory. Station lists and search results come from the community-run radio-browser.info directory over HTTPS. Requests identify the app (a standard user-agent string) but carry no personal information, identifiers, or usage history.

The stations themselves. When you tune a station, your device connects directly to that broadcaster's stream. Stations are third-party servers; some older ones only support plain HTTP. Ghosts sends them nothing beyond the standard connection required to receive audio. What a station's operator can see is the same as for any internet radio player: an anonymous connection from your IP address.

What stays on your device

Ghosts you catch, sessions you save, and takes you record are written to the app's private storage on your iPhone. They are never uploaded anywhere by the app. You can delete takes and sessions inside the app at any time; deleting the app removes everything.

If you use iCloud device backups, the app's files may be included in your own encrypted backup, under your control like any other app's data.

Required-reason API disclosure

Apple asks apps to declare certain system APIs. Ghosts uses two, both confined to the device: file timestamps (reason C617.1 — reading creation dates of the app's own recording files to sort your takes) and available disk space (reason E174.1 — checked before a recording starts so a take is never begun that can't finish). Neither value leaves the device.

Children

Ghosts collects no data from anyone, including children. Note that radio stations are live third-party broadcasts and are not curated by us.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date. Since the app collects nothing, changes are unlikely.
