Ghosts is a haunted radio: tune real stations from around the world, catch a few seconds of what you hear, and mix the loops into something new.

Getting started

  1. Tune the dial. On the CATCH tab, press play. The radio tunes a live station from the community dial — step with ◀ ▶, jump anywhere with RND, or search thousands of stations under DIRECTORY.
  2. Watch the ring fill. The signal plate is always listening to the last few seconds of the broadcast. When something good happens, it's already in the ring.
  3. Catch a ghost. Press CATCH LAST 6S — or drag the frame to grab a precise slice. Your ghost starts looping immediately, layered under the radio.
  4. Mix. The MIX tab is your console: up to 24 ghost strips with faders, mute and solo. Tap a strip to open the editor — pitch, damage, space, trim the loop, reverse it.
  5. Record and share. Arm REC on the master strip to bounce your mix to an audio file. Finished takes live under TAKES — play, share, or delete them there. Save whole rosters as sessions and come back later.

FAQ

Audio keeps playing when I leave the app. Is that intentional?
Yes — Ghosts is an instrument and a radio, so playback continues in the background like any music app, with lock-screen controls. Pause from the lock screen or the master strip and the app goes fully silent and releases its audio session.
A station won't play or cut out.
Stations are independent third-party broadcasters and sometimes go offline. Ghosts detects dead streams and skips ahead automatically; you can also step or RND to a new frequency. Your ghosts keep looping regardless — the radio is raw material, not the instrument.
Why did my app open silent after relaunch?
By design: a restored roster comes back paused so the app never starts audio on its own. Press play on the master strip when you're ready.
How do I manage storage?
Everything is visible in-app: TAKES lists each recording with its size and a running total — swipe through, play, share, and delete freely. Sessions can be deleted from the SESSIONS sheet. Deleting the app removes everything.
Does Ghosts use my microphone?
Never. Recording taps the app's own output — the mix you hear — so no microphone permission is ever requested.
Is anything synced or uploaded?
No. There's no account and no cloud. Ghosts, sessions, and takes exist only on your device. See the privacy policy.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone on iOS 17 or later, and a network connection for the radio itself. Caught ghosts keep playing without a connection.
